Disney Branded Television Orders “Coven Academy” Pilot from Creator Tim Federle
Set to stream on Disney+ and Disney Channel, the pilot will be a single-camera supernatural dramedy.
A new single-camera supernatural dramedy tentatively titled Coven Academy is in the works at Disney+.
What’s Happening:
- Deadline reports that Disney Branded Television has given a pilot order to the new Coven Academy (working title) series, which marks the streamer’s latest dive into the world of witchcraft after projects like Hocus Pocus 2 and Agatha All Along.
- Written by High School Musical: The Musical: The Series creator Tim Federle, Coven Academy will see a coven of teenage witches-in-training must protect their town from a looming threat.
- Federle and Bronwyn North-Reist executive produce through Federle’s Chorus Boy Productions under his overall deal with Disney Branded Television.
- Federle also serves as an executive producer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Vampirina, which will premiere later this year on Disney Channel and Disney+.
- Also in Federele’s packed slate, he’ll be directing the sequel to Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion for 20th Century Studios and writing the stage musical adaptation of The Greatest Showman for the Disney Theatrical Group.
