Marvel Rivals is introducing an electrifying new costume for Storm based on her 1970 comic book appearance.

What’s Happening:

  • Marvel Rivals has unveiled on X the new Goddess of Thunder costume for Storm.
  • Based on the character’s appearance in 1970’s X-Men Annual #9, the character takes on an electric blue color scheme with silver armor.
  • Prior to becoming the Goddess of Thunder, Storm was accidentally struck by one of Forge’s inventions, stripping her of her mutant powers. Regardless of Ororo’s tragic grounding, she continued to work with the X-Men and help mentor the New Mutants.
  • On a trip to Asgard, Ororo landed directly in Loki’s layer, where he transformed her into an eagle, giving her the ability to fly once again.
  • Preying on her self-doubt, Loki used Asgardian magic to put her under a spell.
  • When the X-Men confronted Loki about his enchantments, he presented Storm with the Asgardian hammer Stormcaster, which restored her ability to wield thunder and lightning again.
  • Under Loki’s magic, she took on her teammates before coming to her senses, reuniting with the X-Men to take down Hela.
  • Ororo did eventually turn down Loki’s offer of Asgardian godhood, giving up her powers once again to return home with her mutant family.

  • In a small teaser clip of the new cosmetic, electric currents can be seen running through the fan-favorite character’s hair.
  • Storm can also be seen wielding the Stormcaster.

  • Storm’s Goddess of Thunder cosmetics drop on March 13 at 7PM PDT on Marvel Rivals’ in-game store.
  • Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play player vs player game available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC.
