“Moana 2” Elements Added to Roku City to Promote Disney+ Release

You can now find Motufetū and more within Roku’s scrolling screensaver.

It turns out Motufetū and Roku City are a lot closer than one might think, thanks to a new partnership between Roku and Disney+ to promote the streaming debut of Moana 2.

What’s Happening:

  • Roku has partnered with Disney+ to highlight today’s streaming debut of Moana 2 by bringing some notable imagery from the film to Roku City.
  • Roku City is the name given to the scrolling animated screensaver on Roku’s home page, which depicts a cityscape at night packed with Easter eggs to beloved films, including buildings, vehicles, objects, and characters that evoke familiar elements from the likes of Star Wars, Avengers, Back to the Future, Mary Poppins, National Lampoon's Vacation and much more.
  • Now through March 20, viewers will spot the island of Motufetū from Moana 2, along with Pua and Heihei, Maui’s fish hook and more from the film.
  • Roku began placing branded partnerships into Roku City in 2023, where the usual city was supplemented with temporary additions. One such partnership with Paramount+ put in elements from franchises like Star Trek, Transformers and Top Gun, while previous Roku City and Disney partnerships added Cinerella’s Castle to mark Disney’s 100th anniversary and the Disney Treasure to the water to promote the new ship.
