Season Two of Disney's "Kiff" Hones, Perfects, and Amps Up What We Love About the Series

We're already looking forward to the next soundtrack album.

Good things come to those who wait, and boy have we been waiting for the second season of the hit Disney Channel animated series, Kiff. The season one finale dropped back in February of 2024, leaving us over a year without new episodes of the fan-favorite series.

Well, that’s not entirely true. We did get two full-length standalone specials that helped with the wait - “The Haunting of Miss McGravy’s House" and “Lore of the Ring Light." The former of which earned a nomination for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming or Film – Animated at the upcoming 2025 GLAAD Media Awards. The series as a whole has also been nominated for Outstanding Children’s or Young Teen Animated Series at the 2025 Children’s and Family Emmys.

Now, that wait is finally over and are we going to get a good thing when season two arrives on March 15th? No. We’re going to get a GREAT thing. In the second season, Kiff and bunny bestie Barry embark on adventures that take them deeper into their ever-eccentric community of Table Town, where animals and magical oddballs navigate life, school, relationships and the quirks of their offbeat and loveable universe. While I haven’t seen the full season, I can say with authority that what I have seen builds on what we know and love about Kiff and pushes it to a level perfect for the sophomore season of the show. The eccentric and frankly absurd world of Table Town continues to grow and develop as we get to know more about Kiff, Barry and the rest of the delightfully wacky ensemble.

The stories are still delightfully simple - Kiff can’t sneeze, Kiff gets a check, etc. - and are told in delightful and enthralling ways, as was done in season one. However, the team behind the series (led by creators Nic Smal and Lucy Heavens) now has a full season under their belt with lessons-learned and skills perfectly honed to deliver even more of that brand of writing and fun we have come to expect.

Not only that, the animation has stepped up too. Through season one you can see an evolution in their art that also expanded into those two aforementioned stand-alone specials. Now, in season two, you can tell the craft (all performed by the same studio partners, like Titmouse) has ramped up and been perfected. One of (in my opinion) the trademarks of the series are the brilliantly timed and elaborate facial reaction shots, and these have leveled up as well, packing a brilliantly timed, hilarious punch whenever they arrive.

Let’s talk about music. Some of the catchiest and greatest tunes in the Disney pantheon of today come from this series (let’s get some play on that SiriusXM station, okay?), with some even nominated for Emmys, and that seems to continue into season two. We already know a bit about what to expect, as revealed by Nic and Lucy, but already jumping into the second season we already have some “bops" that will surely be played again and again, all performed by the wildly talented voice cast of the series.

I have said again and again, Kiff is also a series that somehow transcends its target demographic. Not only is it great fun for the young adult audience and parents who watch with them, I know that (based on social media and my own personal experience) packs of adults without kids are out there watching this show on a regular basis. While still keeping a G (okay sometimes PG) rating, Season Two appears to keep that brand going with episodes that will draw in more than just the audience they were aiming for. One episode in particular might have adults siding on what part of a house should be repaired first - a basement or a roof. I’ll wait for your answer.

Where other series might seem to dip a bit in their second season, Kiff hones and perfects what it had already done best while continuing to build their wonderful world and its oddly relatable residents, crafting a larger stage and bigger world as we get ready for the already-announced third season of the show. Kiff season two premieres on Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney XD On Demand on Saturday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. EDT/PDT with two episodes, followed by new episodes weekly on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. EDT/PDT. The second season will stream this summer on Disney+, season one is available on the platform now.
