Disney Cruise Line to Offer Year-Round Sailings Out of Galveston

The Disney Magic has completed off-season sailings out of Galveston since 2012.

Disney Cruise Line is set to expand their offerings out of Texas’ Port of Galveston, including offering year-round sailings beginning in 2027.

What’s Happening:

  • Chron is reporting that Disney Cruise Line is set to begin regular year-round sailings out of the Port of Galveston beginning in 2027.
  • During a recent meeting between Galveston City Council and the Wharves Board of Trustees, the port’s CEO Rodger Rees shared that cruise lines are looking to invest over $200 million in the Texas city, especially as the Port of Miami is no longer able to expand.
  • Amongst those cruise lines, Disney is said to be making big moves towards expanding their sailings out of the Port of Galveston.
  • Disney began off-season sailings of the Disney Magic back in 2012, and later renewed their contract with the port in 2019. While the 10 year agreement ends in 2029, it looks like Disney is preparing to offer even more at-sea magic out of Texas.
  • Rees also added that Disney is considering bringing in a larger ship as they expand their offerings.
  • The Magic is capable of holding around 2,700 passengers and 1,000 crew members.
  • While the agreement hasn’t yet been finalized, Port of Galveston spokesperson Kathy Thomas said there will be a formal statement shared when it is.
