Photos: Disneyland Commemorates Memorial Day with The Fallen Soldier Reserved Tables

The offering aims to remind guests to honor and mourn lost and fallen US soldiers.

Disneyland Resort is commemorating Memorial Day with special tables set aside for fallen soldiers at several of their most popular restaurants.

What’s Happening:

  • Laughing Place is currently spending some time commemorating Memorial Day weekend at the Disneyland Resort.
  • While the resort is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary, Disneyland took the time to highlight the unforgettable contributions of the nation’s fallen soldiers.
  • Memorial Day, which was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson, aims to honor and mourn the men and women who have died serving in the United States military.
  • At several Disneyland Resort dining locations, The Fallen Soldier installations have been added for today’s holiday.
  • The reserved tables will be kept empty to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today.
  • Amongst the table settings of The Fallen Soldier, each part has a specific intention.
    • Table – Set for one, the table represents the isolation of prisoners of war and the unending concern from survivors and loved ones.
    • White Tablecloth – Symbolizes the purity of intentions behind those that respond to the United States call to arms.
    • Flags – Each represents a different branch of the military. They are also accompanied by an American flag.
    • Single Red Rose – Represents the blood shed involved in the brave sacrifices of servicemen, as well as the hope civilians carry for their loved ones return.
    • Slice of Lemon – Symbolizes the bitter fate for missing and lost soldiers. The salt sprinkled around the lemon represents the tears shed by family members.
    • Inverted Glass – Represents the missing and fallens inability to partake.
    • Lit Candle – Symbolizes hope that the missing will find their way home.
    • Empty Chair – Holds space for those that cannot be present.
  • So far we’ve spotted three of these The Fallen Soldier installations.
  • One is at Blue Bayou in New Orleans Square, which can be seen above.
  • There are also installations at Red Rose Taverne in Fantasyland, Craftsman Bar at Disney’s Grand Californian, and more.

  • For those at the park, Disneyland will host a special flag retreat ceremony with the Navy Band Southwest in Town Square at 4:15PM.
  • A visit to the Disneyland Resort is a great way to celebrate your loved ones, both here and gone. For those looking to take a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth, Laughing Place recommends Mouse Fan Travel for all your Disneyland vacation needs.
