Photos: In Character Gift Shop Reopens with Fresh Decor at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

This marks the first time the location has been open since before the pandemic-related closure in 2020.

Just in time for the debut of The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, the In Character gift shop has reopened for the first time since the pandemic closure of 2020.

What’s Happening:

  • The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure officially premieres tomorrow, May 27th, bringing back a Little Mermaid stage show to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the first time since 2020.
  • Right next door, another element of the park closed since 2020 has returned – the In Character gift shop.
  • This outdoor, but covered gift shop is the ideal place for fans of The Little Mermaid to get the latest and greatest gear, alongside items for other Disney Princesses.
  • A new backdrop featuring Ariel from the animated classic has been added behind the register, with Flounder and Sebastian seen in front.

  • The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure will invite guests to relive the story of Ariel as she follows her dreams to be part of the human world. The new show will feature encounters with King Triton and Ursula among others, using actors, puppets, and the latest technology to bring the story to life, as well as all the classic songs from the film. This also includes “Kiss the Girl" which was not in the previous show in this location, Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
  • Disney has offered up a preview of the show ahead of its debut, and has installed brand-new signage in front of the theater, breathing new life into the space.
  • The same day also marks the official debut of Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After at the park, which we also recently got a first look at, which you can see here.
