Top 5 Hidden Things to Do at Disney World You May Not Know About
Disney World is known for its immersive attractions and entertainment, but that is not where the magic ends. Across Disney World’s vast property, there are so many hidden things to do beyond the typical theme park experience that you may not even be aware of, from special tours to fun activities at the resorts.
These are 5 hidden things to do on Disney World property that could be a highlight of your vacation!
1) Ride a horse or pony at Tri-Circle-D Ranch. If you’re looking to mix it up with a fun and unique activity, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has plenty of great options, including pony rides, trail rides, and carriage rides.
Your kids can enjoy a parent-guided pony ride at Tri-Circle-D Ranch, one of the most affordable fun activities outside the park at only $10 per child. There are also some other special experiences available here, like carriage rides through the forest, wagon rides, or trail rides, where guests 9 years and older can embark on a horseback riding adventure exploring the woodland surrounding Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds. If you’re visiting during Christmas at Disney World, you can even enjoy a holiday sleigh ride!
There are plenty of exciting things to do here, which you can read more about in our guide to horse experiences at Tri-Circle-D-Ranch.
2) Get a haircut on Main Street U.S.A. Inside Magic Kingdom, there is an old-fashioned barber shop called Harmony Barber Shop where guests of any age can receive a haircut! This location offers different services including a fun first haircut experience that includes a commemorative Mickey ear hat, certificate, and keepsake lock of hair. If you’re visiting Disney World with small kids, this can be a really fun and memorable experience to have their first haircut at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
3) Go scuba diving at EPCOT. One of the coolest hidden experiences at Disney World is the scuba diving experience offered at The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion. During the 40-minute dive, Open Water SCUBA-certified certified guests can swim in this 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium with over 2,000 aquatic animals, with views of sea turtles, reef fish, stingrays, and sharks.
The entire experience is 2 hours, including a backstage tour where you’ll learn about the inner workings of the aquarium. While this activity is on the pricier side, it’s an incredibly unique experience that can be worth the splurge for the memories you’ll make.
4) Decorate a cake in Disney Springs! Those looking for a fun activity outside of the parks can enjoy Amorette's Patisserie Cake Decorating Experience, where you will create a character dome cake under the guidance of a Disney pastry artist. This is an especially fun idea for a birthday activity on a non-park day or an activity on your Disney World check-out day! One reservation covers up to two guests decorating one cake during this 90-minute experience.
Depending on which day you book, you will make either The Mickey Mouse Dome Cake (Chocolate Chiffon Cake, Milk Chocolate Mousse, and Orange Pate De Fruit Jelly) or The Amorette’s Choice Dome Cake (Lemon Chiffon Cake, White Chocolate Mousse. and Strawberry Pate De Fruit Jelly) in the context of a small group lesson. The experience takes place before Amorette’s Patisserie opens, but they can hold your cake for you while you enjoy your day at Disney Springs for pickup later in the day.
5) Enjoy mini-golfing or golf courses at Disney World! Mini-golfing can be a fun activity on a day when you’re not enjoying the theme parks. There are two themed mini-golf courses you can enjoy, Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf Course and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course.
You can also do some regular golfing at Disney's Magnolia, Oak Trail, and Palm Golf courses, or Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course at Saratoga Springs Resort. If you’re looking to learn something new, you can take a golf lesson, with all skill levels welcome to participate, or try your hand at FootGolf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course.
