Epcot’s 22nd Annual International Flower and Garden Festival

IMG_2666For the past 22 years each spring Epcot has hosted the, now International, Flower and Garden Festival and while this year may seem a bit scaled back it is as impressive as always! IMG_2781As I said, this year may seem a bit scaled back due to less of the topiaries out, but actually it is greatly expanded with more focus on actual gardens and plant types. Which is reflected in the opening topiary with Goofy, Pluto, and Daisy working in a garden and on the other side we have Donald chasing after Chip and Dale with a rake for getting into the carrots.IMG_2867Throughout the rest of the park many of the same topiaries from years past are out, some with a few modifications or less friends, like Pooh and Miss Piggy.IMG_2865

IMG_2618But of course the biggest story for this years festival.....The premiere of Anna and Elsa from Frozen! IMG_2617

These topiaries are stunning and really capture the likeness of the girls, making them seem like they stepped right out of the film!IMG_2616

IMG_2613Also one of my favorite additions to this year has to be the Disney*Pixar Inside Out Emotion Garden, which is just a small area just outside of Journey Into Imagination, but the richness of the colors and the basic storytelling comes through so well!IMG_2685

IMG_2695One of the other things that really stands out this year, as I said before, is the focus on the garden aspect of the event. While the topiary count may be down this year, the addition of small display gardens have increased greatly!IMG_2795

IMG_2858I have left out my favorite display of topiaries for this year...Because I felt they needed to be properly showcased, as anything from Fantasia always should!IMG_2683

IMG_2811As has been the trend over the past few years Flower & Garden has taken its queue from Food & Wine and added food booths along the World Showcase area with different snack options that add to your flower viewing experience. These are just 2 of the many options that will surely keep you eating and drinking around the World Showcase!IMG_2818

IMG_2822

IMG_2821By far one of the greatest experiences you can have during F&G is the butterfly house. There is nothing like standing among beautiful flowers as hundreds of butterflies flit all around you.IMG_2806

IMG_2807

IMG_2813As I wrap up this report I would be remiss if I did not add in what has become the biggest story of this year, in the day that it has been open, Goofy's watering habits! As you saw at the start of this update Goofy is all wrapped up in his hose as he is trying to water the garden...well for the 12 year old in us all this is the view you get as you walk out of Epcot.IMG_2868So there you have it, from the beauty of hundreds of hours of work to bring the most beautiful flowers and garden displays to millions of guests to a misplace water effect that brings out the dumb kid in us...I hope you enjoyed this Flower and Garden update!
