ABC is Taking “9-1-1” to Nashville
The new procedural spinoff is set to hit the network during their 2025-2026 season.
The popular ABC procedural 9-1-1 is getting another spinoff after 9-1-1: Lone Star ended after five seasons.
What’s Happening:
- Deadline exclusively reports that ABC is taking 9-1-1 to Nashville, TN.
- The popular first responder series spinoff, titled 9-1-1: Nashville, has received a straight-to-series order from ABC that will be written and executive produced by 9-1-1 co-creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear.
- 9-1-1: Lone Star, the series’ Texas spinoff, just ended after five successful seasons and showrunner Rashad Raisani will be joining the next chapter of the franchise also serving as showrunner on 9-1-1: Nashville.
- Coming from 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, other executive producers include longtime Murphy collaborator Brad Falchuk and 9-1-1 star Angela Bassett.
- The idea for 9-1-1: Nashville came to be after the success of 9-1-1: Lone Star. Initially airing on Fox in 2020, the second spinoff from the 9-1-1 series will be the first new project to be created since the franchise moved to 20th TV and ABC in 2023.
- The spinoff wasn’t initially intended to land in Nashville. Early talks saw the series in Las Vegas.
- However, when the project began to roll, Murphy intended to turn the focus to Hawaii.
- With high production costs for filming on the tropical paradise, the series shifted focus to the major music hub.
- Supposedly, Nashville also offered a tax credit for the proposed series, making the location a no-brainer for the studio.
- The series is set to join 9-1-1 on ABC during the network’s 2025-2026 season.
