Christian Siriano Debuts “The Handmaid’s Tale” Inspired Look at New York Fashion Week

The series' final season premieres this April.

In celebration of the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale, designer Christian Siriano has created a high-fashion hood inspired by the hit Hulu series.

Hulu on The Runway:

  • American fashion designer Christian Siriano recently teamed up with Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale to bring a gorgeous red-cloak look to New York Fashion Week.

  • Throughout the dystopian series, handmaids were forced to wear red cloaks categorizing them as servants.
  • As the series heads into its 6th and final season, these cloaks become symbols of rebellion and liberation.
  • In the original novel written by Margaret Atwood, she wrote ““They should have never given us uniforms if they didn't want us to be an army."
  • Siriano, finding inspiration from the powerful reclamation, brought the red-cloak to life in a gorgeous and voluminous hood with structured shoulders. During the runway, the model removed the draped garment as a moment to highlight the powerful themes of the series.
  • You can check out a behind the scenes look at the inspired look below:

  • Season 6 of The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on Hulu on April 8th. The first three episodes will be immediately available, with new episodes premiering Tuesdays until the series finale on May 27th.
