Disney Branded Television Announces Fifth “Descendants” Movie For Disney Channel and Disney+

Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker will return to their roles as Princesses Red and Chloe.

The upcoming chapter of the Descendants film series is officially in development for Disney Channel and Disney+, with production for the fifth installment scheduled to begin soon.

  • Disney Branded Television announced today that a new installment of the popular Descendants movie franchise is in development for Disney Channel and Disney+, with production for the fifth film scheduled to commence soon.
  • This newly approved Disney Channel Original Movie will continue to explore the vibrant music and dance narratives featuring the teenage offspring of Disney's most famous characters and villains.
  • Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker are set to return as Princesses Red and Chloe, the daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella.
  • The official title of the film will be revealed at a future date.
  • The sequel, set shortly after the events of the acclaimed 2024 film Descendants: The Rise of Red, examines the true nature of "happily ever after" for Red and Chloe as they navigate life after their time-traveling escapades.
  • Primarily taking place in contemporary Wonderland, this chapter addresses the cautionary message from the previous installment, “There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time."

Credits:

  • Kimmy Gatewood will direct from a script by co-executive producers Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer.
  • Executive producers Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh return, with Gatewood also serving as co-producer.
  • Emmy-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal will create new music and dance sequences for the Descendants franchise.
