Hulk and Spider-Man to Face Off Against Godzilla This April in New One-Shot Comics From Marvel
How will these fan-favorite Marvel heroes fair against the iconic giant?
Last month, Marvel announced that they had teamed up with Toho International to bring a new series of Godzilla one-shots to readers around the world. Now we are getting a look at two more issues set to release this Spring.
What’s Happening:
- Marvel Comics have announced that Godzilla will face off against Hulk and Spider-Man this April.
- Set to be the second and third entries into the set of six one shots, the two new comics will follow the March release of Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four.
Godzilla vs. Hulk #1
- Coming April 16th, Godzilla vs. Hulk is being brought to life by writer Gerry Duggan and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli.
- General Ross and the Thunderbolts have proven they have no problem taking down monsters. After capturing Fin Fang Foom, Mothra, Kumonga, and Hulk, their next hunt will be their biggest yet when they go after Godzilla.
- Their efforts will result in a destructive battle that will show who really is the strongest on Earth.
- Duggan, when speaking to ComicBook.com, shared "I grew up loving Godzilla movies and Marvel Comics, and it's a thrill to be able to collaborate with Giuseppe Camuncoli on the absolute craziest comic I think I've ever been a part of, and I worked on over a hundred issues of Deadpool (2012) and once wrote a comic about Conan killing a zombie with a call girl's leg,"
- The main cover is also illustrated by Camuncoli, with two variant covers also available.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1
- Hitting shelves on April 30th, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man is being brought to life by superstar artist Nick Bradshaw and writer Joe Kelly. Kelly is set to bring a new era of Spider-Man comics this March with a new run of Amazing Spider-Man.
- After the events of the original Secret Wars, Peter Parker heads back to Earth with a new alien costume. While Peter’s life is relatively calm, minus a love triangle between him, MJ, and Black Cat, all of that will change when Godzilla heads to New York City. When the giant targets Spider-Man, readers will get to watch as two of the world’s most iconic characters go head-to-head.
- Speaking with IGN, Kelly shared "The second I heard that there was going to be a Godzilla x Spidey crossover set in the '80s, I almost leapt across the table to claim it. This book is a chance to go nuts and have a blast with two iconic characters and channel the chaos of the time period that I was actively collecting Spider-Man."
- In addition to Bradshaw’s main cover, two variant covers will be available.
- Both comics are available to preorder at comic book shops everywhere.
