What’s Happening:

  • Deadline reports that Key, who first broke out alongside Jordan Peele on their sketch comedy show, Key & Peele, will have a supporting role on the fifth season of the hit Hulu comedy. For now, details about his character are unknown.
  • Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, Only Murders has become known for casting big stars for its season-long murder mystery arcs – though some of them stick around longer – with the likes of Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Jane Lynch and many more playing ongoing characters. Though only Key has been revealed for Season 5 so far, Deadline says there will once more be plenty of other recognizable names around him beyond the three leads.
  • The casting comes on the heels of Only Murders winning its first SAG Award for Comedy Series Ensemble just last week for the Season 4 cast, along with Martin Short winning for  Male Actor in a Comedy Series.
  • Key’s recent roles include guest appearances on Abbott Elementary and Elsbeth, along with appearing alongside Jack Black in Dear Santa and Timothée Chalamet in Wonka.
  • Key also has done many voice roles for animation, including Toy Story 4, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, IF, and Transformers One.
  • Though no premiere date is known for Only Murders in the Building Season 5, the show has traditionally returned on Hulu in late summer - though it’s worth noting Season 4’s August 27, 2024 premiere was the latest the show had yet premiered in a given year.
