Marvel Comics Announces New “Gwenpool” Miniseries to be Written by Cavan Scott and Drawn by Stefano Nesi
Two Gwenpools means twice the fun!
Today Marvel Comics announced that the character of Gwenpool will be returning to the spotlight with a new five-issue miniseries this spring.
What’s happening:
- The Gwenpool character was first introduced into Marvel Comics ten years ago via Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars, Howard the Duck, and then her own solo title called The Unbelievable Gwenpool. Later she joined the West Coast Avengers and next starred in two additional miniseries: Gwenpool Strikes Back in 2019 and Love Unlimited: Gwenpool in 2023.
- Now the popular superhero will be returning– in a new form– for another miniseries, entitled simply Gwenpool, to be written by Cavan Scott (Star Wars: The High Republic) and illustrated by Stefano Nesi (DC’s Batman). The main cover for issue #1 will be drawn by artist Chad Hardin, while Greg Land, Jeehyung Lee, and Paco Medina will create variant covers. All four covers are viewable within this news post.
- This time around, it appears as though this new Gwenpool’s secret identity will be the late Gwen Stacy herself, in addition to the usual Gwendolyn Poole– a character created to avoid copyright entanglement with 20th Century Fox (who held the movie rights to Deadpool) and Sony Pictures (Spider-Man) back in 2015.
