“Mufasa: The Lion King” Headed to Disney+ at the End of the Month
The film joins "Moana 2," which debuts on the streamer in a few weeks.
According to Disney Entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden, Mufasa: The Lion King, the live-action sequel/prequel to 2019’s The Lion King, is expected to head to Disney+ later this month.
Coming Soon to Disney+:
- Earlier today at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Medi, and Telecom Conference, Dana Walden, Disney Entertainment co-chairman, shared that Mufasa: The Lion King would be headed to Disney+ at the end of March.
- The movie made its theatrical debut on December 20th, 2024, and has since earned over $707 million worldwide.
- Mufasa: The Lion King explores the origin story of Mufasa (Aaron Pierre) and Scar (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) through the lens of Rafiki’s story telling. Introducing Simba and Nala’s daughter Kiara (Blue Ivy Carter), the wise mandrill and shaman is joined by Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogan) as they recount the story of her Grandfather’s rise to power.
- No exact date has been given for when the blockbuster will hit the streamer.
- Another Disney hit is heading to Disney+ this month, with Moana 2 streaming on March 12th.
