Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions Signs First-Look Deal with 20th Television
Last June, the production company also signed a first-look movie deal with Disney.
Dwayne “The Rock" Johnson’s production company has signed a new first-look TV deal with 20th Television, which places the production company fully under the Walt Disney Company.
What’s Happening:
- Deadline is exclusively reporting that Seven Bucks Productions has signed a first-look TV deal with 20th Television.
- Started by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, this places the production company completely into the House of Mouse as they signed a first-look deal with Disney last June to develop films for both theatrical release and streaming.
- Under the deal, the production company will develop and executive produce comedy, drama, adult animation, limited and unscripted series for both linear networks and streamers across Disney Entertainment Television platforms.
- Dwayne Johnson is no stranger to working with Disney. For the past approximately 2 decades, the actor and producer has been seen in films such as The Game Plan, Moana, and more.
- In addition to his on-screen work, Johnson, along with his Seven Bucks Productions, helped bring 2021’s Jungle Cruise to life as well as the 2021 docuseries Behind the Attraction on Disney+.
- Under the film deal, Seven Bucks is producing the live-action Moana that is currently in production and set to release next year. They are also producing a live-action film titled Monster Jam.
- Previously, the production company was under a deal with Universal TV.
What They’re Saying:
- Karey Burke, president of 20th Television: “There are few producers more synonymous with franchise-building than Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia. DJ is arguably the biggest star on the planet, whose unmatchable charisma, charm, and magical likeability is infused into the characters and stories that Seven Bucks brings to the screen. Seven Bucks has had an incredible run working with Disney on the film side and we are thrilled to continue this legacy at the television studio."
- Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia: “Disney has been our trusted partner in storytelling and entertainment for years now, and we’re ecstatic to expand our partnership with them beyond film as we set out to work hard and achieve the same success in the television space. In 20th Television we have a partner who matches our ambition, our passion, and our commitment to bring authentic, innovative content to audiences all over the world. Collaborating with Dana Walden, Eric Schrier, Karey Burke, Carolyn Cassidy, and the entire team at 20th Television feels like an unlimited opportunity for creative storytelling, and most importantly, entertaining a lot of folks out there."
