A Raging Wolf and A Stinky Grub Star in This Week’s “StuGo” on Disney Channel
This week’s StuGo is full of natural behaviors: the nature of jealousy runs wild, and the natural pairing of two creatures in the wild. All presented with the fun and hilarious nature of StuGo.
The Wolf of Jealousy
The kids are busy turning trash into gold for Dr. Lullah - so she can then spend that money to buy more things which will inevitably become trash. Well, most of the kids. Larry is busy a few feet away impressing all the mutants with magic tricks and attempts at gymnastics, like somersaults. Larry can’t quite nail the somersault, so Francis gives some advice from atop the pile of trash, and does a bit of a stunt as she makes her way down, somersaulting down the trash mountain.
This is the coolest thing that the mutants have ever seen. Sorry, Larry. As praise is given to Francis, Larry’s stomach begins to grumble. Sara pops up to explain that this is the hunger of jealousy, that there is a wolf inside Larry that starves for everything that Francis is getting (all that attention) and if he doesn’t do anything about it soon, that wolf of jealousy will be unleashed.
Thanks to Chip’s allergies, the gold gun is misfired and hits Francis, turning her into a living gold statue. The absolute envy of Larry as the mutants quite literally begin to worship her. A flounder appears and explains that she is the chosen one according to the island lore, and soon becomes the recipient of a number of gifts, including secret compliments, and a buffet of delicious food.
The hunger inside Larry continues to grow with Sara nearby instigating and pushing it along. Eventually, Larry turns more into a werewolf as his inner wolf spirit is released and goes after Francis. It’s up to Sara and her inner cat spirit to unleash and stop him. This spiritual battle ensues and leaves Larry’s wolf defeated before the big reveal - this whole story is a fabrication that Sara was telling Larry from the jump when Francis did a somersault first.
Only, off-screen, she apparently made everyone else gather around and listen too, including all the mutants. Who really wanted all the attention then? It seems it wasn’t Larry.
Stench Mensch
Pliny (AKA Hat Glasses) and Dr. Lullah are on a far side of the island to watch a grub and toad migration. It seems that this excursion was entirely prompted because Pliny discovered a banned video of Lullah in a bodybuilding competition gone awry, and the only way that Pliny will sign an NDA is to come do this. Even worse for Lullah - at the advice of Pliny’s lawyer (cough cough Merian cough), she will not be signing an NDA until after all their science is done.
What happens during this event is grubs pair up with toads and go off into the woods nearby. Any grubs that don’t get paired off stay in the sun, and shortly after, will explode. Of course, this fully disheartens Pliny but Lullah explains that this process itself is science. Pliny wants to stay and make sure every grub is paired off but Lullah - who already hates coming back here because of how bad the grubs smell.
Sure enough, there is a grub that doesn’t get paired off and Pliny finds herself trying to save it, much to Lullah’s dismay. Affectionately named “Pudding" because of the strange goo that this grub is excreting, Pliny has it inside their lakeside lab as it makes a mess everywhere. Meanwhile, Lullah understands Pliny’s desire to save the creature but is also trying to explain that what’s about to happen is a scientific inevitability and she needs to accept that, as cynical as it may sound.
There is a bit of hope though when they are trying to pair off Pudding with a toad and they discover that Pudding does not smell as bad as the other grubs, so they spend some time stink-ifying the creature to make it more appealing to the toads.
Sadly, all is lost. Pliny has cleaned up the mess and signed Lullah’s NDA, which she discovers when she awakens the next day. She looks out the window and sees that Pliny is trying to carry the increasingly large grub into the woods herself, following the paired toads. Lullah doesn’t want to make the trip home and back again, so she willingly helps Pliny with her excursion - and shows off her still maintained bodybuilding physique while doing so. Carrying the grub and Pliny into the woods to discover that the pairing of the toads is essentially doing what they just did - bringing the grubs to a small pond. But why?
As they drop Pudding into the pond, they discover that the toads have no real reward for doing this, they are just being kind and helping the grubs get to where they need to go - a lesson for Lullah in a way. Sadly, Pudding does explode pretty quickly.
Before they have any time to grieve, Lullah and Pliny realize that this is a final stage in a butterfly-style metamorphosis for the grubs. As they watch in awe, and Lullah wonders if everything she thought about natural processes is wrong, we very quickly realize that they still excrete a strange goo, and in an unpleasant fashion.
