Marvel Comics is Taking Readers Back 40 Years in New “Wolverine and Kitty Pryde” Comic Series
Get a new look at the iconic duo's adventures in Japan.
A new limited comic series written by the longtime writer of Uncanny X-Men will explore a return to the world of the 1980s Kitty Pryde and Wolverine series.
What’s Happening:
- This April, a new 5 issue limited comic series from Marvel will reconnect one of the X-Men’s most iconic mutant duos.
- Wolverine and Kitty Pryde will come to life from writer Chris Claremont and illustrator Damian Couceiro.
- Claremont, who spent 16 years bringing Uncanny X-Men to life, will bring readers back to explore more of Wolverine and Kitty’s adventure in Japan over 40 years after the release of Kitty Pryde and Wolverine.
- In the new series, Wolverine and Kitty Pryde will pick up after Kitty nearly lost her soul to Ogun during her journey to Japan. Luckily for her, Logan was there to help keep the X-Man on the right path. However, a new force threatens their lives while visiting with Mariko Yashida. Now they will have to use their combined strength and skills to protect the world.
- The new series will give readers the full scope of their Japan adventures prior to their return to the X-Men.
- Exploring their heartbreak, losses, trials, and successes, Wolverine and Kitty Pryde will give a greater look at what made these characters who they are today.
- The main cover was illustrated by Alan Davis, with three variant covers available to collect.
- Wolverine and Kitty Pryde #1 hits shelves April 30th and is available for preorder now at comic shops everywhere.
What They’re Saying:
- Chris Claremont, Writer: "It's really great returning to this arc, especially since it’s being presented by a wonderful artist, Damian Couceiro" Claremont said. "It’s the story of what happens between the end of the original Kitty Pryde and Wolverine mini-series and Logan and Pryde's return home to rejoin the X-Men. Five issues, more than a single story, complete with surprises galore!"
- Mark Basso, Editor: "Obviously, that Kitty Pryde and Wolverine miniseries is so iconic, taking Kitty from the 'junior' X-Man to the fully fledged hero we see when she returns to New York," Editor Mark Basso added. "But there was a clear gap between the end of this Ogun situation and when Wolverine and Kitty arrive in New York in Uncanny X-Men #192, and we were thrilled Chris was ready to show what happened in that intervening window. Why was Kitty in such a different headspace when they got back? And hey, where’d Kitty’s father get to? Now you'll get to see."
