Fan-Favorite Star Wars Legends Character Mara Jade Is Getting Her Own Legacy Lightsaber Hilt at Galaxy’s Edge

Mara Jade has not yet been brought over into the current canon.

Mara Jade is among the most popular characters to come out of the Star Wars Expanded Universe (now called the Star Wars Legends timeline) that has not yet made an appearance in the current, Disney-era canon. Which is what makes it such a wonderful surprise that Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities (and Disney Store) will be offering a Mara Jade “Emperor’s Hand" Legacy Lightsaber set beginning tomorrow.

What’s happening:

  • In a surprise announcement this morning via an exclusive post on ComicBook.com, Disney Parks has announced that a Mara Jade Legacy Lightsaber will be available at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World) and Disney Store beginning tomorrow, Saturday March 8th at 8:00 AM Eastern Time.
  • The boxed set– which sells for $325– is called “The Emperor’s Hand Limited Edition Legacy Lightsaber" and as the name implies, it is limited to a run of 3,500 pieces. It includes a new variant cover reprint of the 1998 comic book Star Wars: Mara Jade - By the Emperor’s Hand #1, which was written by authors Timothy Zahn (who created the character of Mara Jade for his 1991 novel Star Wars: Heir to the Empire) and Michael A. Stackpole.
  • The lightsaber blade illuminates purple, matching its descriptions in Star Wars Legends storytelling, and it’s presented in a wooden box decorated with a half Imperial insignia and half New Jedi Order symbol.

What they’re saying:

  • ComicBook.com: “The Star Wars lightsaber hilt replicas that Disney / Lucasfilm produce for the Parks and The Disney Store are extremely popular with collectors, and we expect that the one that’s debuting here at Comicbook will be among the most coveted. The hilt is based on the weapon welded by the beloved Legends character Mara Jade Skywalker, and only 3500 will be produced globally."

The Emperor’s Hand (Mara Jade) Legacy Lightsaber will become available tomorrow morning, Saturday March 8th, in Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and at Disney Store.
