Photos/Videos: Nostalgia Comes to Life at Disneyland After Dark: 90s Nite
It’s time to travel back in time at Disneyland After Dark’s 90s Nite! The celebration of what many believe to be the best decade in modern history invites Disney fans to relive their childhood memories through special food and drink offerings, meet and greets, photo ops, and special entertainment. Let’s take a look at this year’s fantastic festivities.
Last night was the first night of Disneyland After Dark: 90s Nite. The nostalgic, separately ticketed event invites Disney fans to celebrate their 90s memories with special offerings throughout the event. Earlier, we shared info on the party’s check in process, guide maps, and specialty merchandise, but now we are ready to give you a full breakdown of the amazing entertainment and meet and greets at this year’s throwback celebration. Even the Sleeping Beauty Castle was decked out with themed projections for the festivities.
Of course, a celebration of the 90s wouldn’t be complete without the amazing characters millennials grew up with. Scattered throughout the park, meet and greet characters can be found, many of which rarely make appearances. This year’s lineup includes Darkwing Duck, Huey, Dewey, Louis, Launchpad McQuack, Scrooge McDuck, Rescue Rangers Chip n’ Dale, Fat Cat, Monterey Jack, Baloo, King Louie, Pocahontas, Meeko, Belle, Beast, Clopin, Esmeralda, Phoebus, Indiana Jones, and the Fantasmic! monkeys.
For all of the 90s characters found on Disney Channel’s The Disney Afternoon, the Fantasyland Theatre was retrofitted into a headquarters for the animated favorites.
New this year, many of the meet and greets required wristbands that were given out during the check in process. Some were fully distributed by 6:30PM, only 30 minutes after the early entry period, so make sure you prioritize what characters you’d like to meet.
Of course, the area hosted several nostalgia themed photo opportunities as well.
Don’t forget to grab your stamps for Gummi Bears and DuckTales.
Heading into ToonTown and “it’s a small world" mall, you’ll find even more Disney Channel nostalgia with meet and greets inspired by Chip n’ Dale Rescue Rangers and TaleSpin.
You’ll find fun photo opportunities here as well.
Don’t forget to collect the other two stamps for your The Disney Afternoon stamp map.
Other photo ops can also be found throughout the event, including one’s themed to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Flubber, and Hocus Pocus.
A party wouldn’t be complete without entertainment, right? Throughout the event, musical performances, dance parties, and a parade helped bring the throwback event to life. Ushering in the 90s Nite excitement, the 90s on Parade Sponsored by Disney + saw fan favorite 90s characters dance their way down Disneyland’s parade route. Featuring Disney films like The Lion King, Aladdin, and Hercules, you can check out the full parade below.
Over in New Orleans Square, guests could join in on a jam-packed journey through the fliest decade, reminiscing with song and dance at the 90s Rad Review. Held in front of Pirates of the Caribbean, live singers and dancers brough hits like “I 2 I" to life.
The musical fun continued throughout the Rivers of America with the event’s 90s Dance Party. A DJ played classic pop hits bringing high-energy fun to the Fantasmic! Stage, New Orleans Square, and Frontierland.
Guests looking to show off their karaoke skills could head to The Golden Horseshoe for a 90s Sing-Along. Several Disney icons like Susan Egan and Khleo Thomas were seen joining in during the event.
The party continued in Tomorrowland with Goofy and Max’s Dance Party. Bringing the 90s to the Tomorrowland Terrace Stage, the father son pair danced the night away with guests.
Speaking of A Goofy Movie, attendees were able to pick up a Powerline Popcorn Bucket, inspired by the fictional pop star.
At the end of the evening, the Fond Farewell saw many of the fan-favorite characters waving goodbye at Main Street Station. What a fun way to cap off the memories made during 90s Nite.
Disneyland After Dark: 90s Nite has one more event night tomorrow, March 6th. Unfortunately, all tickets for the event are sold out for the year. However, those looking to attend a Disneyland After Dark event, tickets are still available for their upcoming Star Wars Nite. You can learn more about the event here.
