Chris Beatty Reveals “Nothing is Lifted from Anaheim” for New Indiana Jones Adventure Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

We're cool with it as long as it doesn't mean a temple full of projection effects.

D23 Gold Members in attendance to learn about all things Space Mountain this morning were surprisingly treated to a chunk of information about Walt Disney World’s planned Indiana Jones experience coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

What’s Happening:

  • Earlier today, D23 held a special Spotlight Series presentation celebrating 50 years of Space Mountain at Walt Disney World.
  • While the presentation played out more like an episode of Behind the Attraction on Disney+, in that they used Space Mountain as a talking point to jump into modern thrill attractions at the Disney Parks, they did touch on what is coming to Walt Disney World in the coming years.
  • Nothing was incredibly groundbreaking, just reiterating what we had already learned at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event last year - until Chris Beatty, Portfolio Executive Creative Director, Walt Disney Imagineering took a moment to discuss the new Indiana Jones-themed attraction coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, taking over the location of DINOSAUR in Dinoland U.S.A. as that land becomes the Tropical Americas.

  • Beatty showed off the art for the attraction and emphasized that “nothing has been lifted from Anaheim," referencing the original incarnation of the attraction at Disneyland Park - “Indiana Jones Adventure - Temple of the Forbidden Eye."
  • He added that, much like the Indiana Jones films, each is an original story, and as such, this new adventure coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be a completely original story, and as he added, “one that leans into what the pillars of Disney’s Animal Kingdom are all about."
  • While Beatty gave no further details than that, it can be assumed that this new adventure will likely feature animals and perhaps a message of ecology, given the pillars of the park.
  • Speculation can run rampant, but considering the Indiana Jones franchise and the pillars of Animal Kingdom, one might immediately jump to some kind of mythical creature or beast, but no new story details or any new art was revealed at today’s presentation - only Beatty’s comments about an all-new original story with nothing we’ve already seen in Anaheim.
  • No timeline has been announced for the debut of the new attraction, which is still pretty far on the horizon considering that DINOSAUR is set to remain open through the remainder of 2025.
