What's Happening:

Disneyland Paris offers guests a vibrant sensory experience with a rich array of colors, sounds, and enticing aromas, especially the scent of freshly popped popcorn from various carts.

Each cart is intricately themed to reflect its area, earthy tones in Frontierland, compass and bronze accents in Discoveryland, and vintage decor reminiscent of the early 1900s in Main Street, U.S.A.

The concept of animated figures originated with popcorn carts called 'Cretors,' invented in 1885.
At the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, Charles Cretors showcased his innovative machine that improved upon roasted peanut carts by producing and seasoning popcorn.
To attract customers, he painted his carts in bright colors and featured a clown character, the 'Tosty Rosty Man,' who operated a steam-powered popcorn drum.
This character became popular and significantly contributed to the company's success in the U.S. and Europe.

When Disneyland opened in 1955, 'Cretors' snack trolleys, featuring an animated clown, lined Main Street, U.S.A., filling the air with the aroma of popcorn and enhancing the nostalgic charm of the area.
Disney Imagineers developed customized character costumes to match the themes of each land, drawing inspiration from attractions like the Abominable Snowman from Matterhorn Bobsleds and beloved films like Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. These thoughtful enhancements serve as Easter eggs for visitors.

These iconic carts with automated figures are replicated in Disney Parks worldwide, including Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland Paris.
At Disneyland Paris, they can be found in every themed area, such as Central Plaza, near Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril, Orbitron, and Casa de Coco - Restaurante de Familia, each uniquely themed to its location.
The teams at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris are working together with the central workshops and the couture workshop to develop creative designs for the Popcorn Animated Dolls, which will be rolled out gradually in the near future.
