Gary the Snake from “Zootopia 2” Arrives at Shanghai Disney Resort for Lunar New Year and Spring Festival

Gary the Snake has arrived at the Shanghai Disney Resort as the Spring Festival takes hold and ushers in the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake at the park.
What’s Happening:
- Shanghai Disney Resort is celebrating Lunar New Year, this year being the year of the snake, and going all in on Gary, a new snake character from Walt Disney Animation Studio’s upcoming film Zootopia 2.
- The new character is featured prominently throughout the park for the festivities, including statues, banners, and murals celebrating the occasion.
- He is also prominently featured as part of the park’s Garden of the Twelve Friends, which has transformed into a New Year Wishing Garden, with celebratory decorations that will hang around the Year of the Snake mosaic, featuring Gary as the center imagery, adding an extra touch of magic to this enchanting area during the upcoming Spring Festival celebrations.
- The decorations are all part of the Spring Festival, which takes place annually at the park.
- First revealed at the recent D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan event, Gary will be a prominent part of Zootopia 2, and will be voiced by Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan.
- By all accounts, Gary will be a big part of Nick and Judy’s hot new case in the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 film, where by the end the two were a crime fighting cop duo. The two still seem to be working together, with both Goodwin and Jason Bateman reprising their roles.
- Zootopia 2 follows brave rabbit cop Judy Hopps and her friend, the fox Nick Wilde, team up again to crack a new case, the most perilous and intricate of their careers, and is expected to arrive in theaters November 26th, 2025.
- Guests at the Shanghai Disney Resort can experience the Lunar New Year festivities now through February 14th.
