Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Reveals Cast Parking Solar Canopy

This addition is the first and largest solar parking canopy in all of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is continuing their commitment to their environment by unveiling the opening of their solar canopy cast parking lot.

What’s Happening:

  • Michael E Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, shared on Instagram a first look at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s solar canopy cast parking.
  • While the project was initially announced back in 2023, the first sections of this major project have officially been put into use.

  • The newly unveiled addition marks the first and largest car park solar canopy in Hong Kong.
  • While the project looks small as of now, by year’s end the resort intends to install over 8,300 solar panels across 60 locations throughout the resort.
  • You can check out Moriarty’s full post below:

  • Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has long been committed to sustainable energy. As of 2023, over 40 buildings throughout the resort had over 7,500 solar panels installed onto roofs, generating more than 3.3 million kWh of energy per year.
  • Additionally, the resort features many eco-friendly features.
  • During maintenance of the Castle of Magical Dreams, water from the moat is stored in a tank purposefully designed to reuse water.
  • The resort has also transferred to mostly LED lighting, which lasts far longer than other lighting options.
  • Air-conditioning sensors monitor guest rooms to provide energy saving for unoccupied rooms.
  • The resort has also replaced plastic to-go containers and cutlery with wooden and other eco-friendly materials.
  • As Disney continues to make unforgettable magic in Hong Kong, it’s great to see the company continue to commit to environmental efforts.
