Photos: Cider and Mino, EPCOT’s New Resident Manatees, Arrive at The Seas with Nemo & Friends
The two orphaned manatees are now available for guest viewing.
Back in January, EPCOT’s long term manatee residents, Lil Joe and Inigo, were moved from The Seas with Nemo & Friends to The Gulfarium as the Disney aquarium transitioned to short term critical care. Now, guests can once again visit the adorable “sea cows" with two new residents at the World Nature pavilion.
Limited Time Engagement:
- Two new manatees have arrived at EPCOT’s The Seas with Nemo & Friends.
- Mino and Cider arrived this week as a part of Disney’s new short-term critical care initiative.
- The two orphaned manatees will be available for guest viewing for a limited time at both the lower and upper levels of the aquarium exhibit at the World Nature pavilion.
- Cider is a whopping 770 pounds, with Mino weighing in at 470 pounds, so if you are having trouble telling them apart, the smaller one is definitely Mino.
- The pair are on a romaine lettuce diet while being treated at Walt Disney World, and the pair are already enjoying meals together.
- While Disney hasn’t announced yet how long Cider and Mino will be in Disney’s care, don’t get too attached to these adorable sea creatures, as they are only short-term residents of Walt Disney World.
- Disney’s new short-term critical initiative joins other aquariums and conservation centers in a coordinating effort to protect the gentle giants. Classified as protected under the Endangered Species Act, you can read more about Disney’s continued effort to provide care and rehabilitation to Florida’s manatee population here.
