Voyage of the Little Mermaid Marquee Removed as Disney’s Hollywood Studios Prepares for a New Show

Disney cited the new marquee being the reason for the show’s delay, so we hope it’s worth it!

As we get closer to the summer opening of The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the marquee for the former iteration of the stage show has been removed.

What’s Happening:

  • The classic Voyage of the Little Mermaid show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which has remained closed since the initial COVID closures in 2020, is set to be reimagined into the all-new The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.
  • The new show was originally supposed to debut in fall 2024, but was delayed to a summer 2025 debut.
  • Disney says that this delay is due to the installation of an all-new marquee, and that work has now begun with the removal of the current marquee (which is not the original version).

  • Last fall, we spotted scaffolding on the backside of the building that indicated a possible change.
  • Cutting-edge digital technology will be used in the new show, which will include two songs not featured in the prior iteration – “Daughters of Triton" and “Kiss the Girl."
  • This past week, Disney shared a look at some of the puppets created for the new show.
  • The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure is set to open this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
