Gabby Petito’s Parents Speak Out in All-New “20/20” Airing This Friday
"GMA3" co-anchor Eva Pilgrim has the first network television interview with Gabby Petito's parents.
This week’s brand-new edition of ABC’s 20/20 will investigate a case that gripped the nation, as the parents of Gabby Petito speak out.
What’s Happening:
- Gabby Petito hoped her upcoming trip with fiancé Brian Laundrie would be an adventure of a lifetime when they outfitted a van to travel across the country, visiting national parks and monuments and documenting it via social media.
- After several months into their trip, Gabby disappeared, and her parents reported her missing. Soon after, authorities discovered her body near Grand Teton National Park, and Brian was named a person of interest in her death.
- Likely attempting to build off the renewed interest in the case garnered by the new Netflix documentary, American Murder: Gabby Petito, 20/20 will offer an updated look into the case.
- In their first network television interview together, Gabby Petito’s parents sit down with GMA3 co-anchor Eva Pilgrim.
- Other interviews also include Gabby’s mother, Nicole Schmidt, and her husband, Jim Schmidt; Gabby’s father, Joe Petito, and his wife, Tara Petito; as well as others involved in the case.
- The all-new 20/20 airs on Friday, February 21st (9:01-11:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC, streaming the next day on Hulu.
