“Bob Gurr: Living by Design” Documentary to Premiere in Glendale This Spring, Q&A with Disney Legend Included
Gurr is known as one of the driving (pun intended) forces behind the rides at the original Disneyland.
One of the most famous and celebrated amusement ride designers in modern history is getting his own documentary– Bob Gurr: Living by Design– and it will premiere this spring in Glendale, California.
What’s happening:
- A new documentary entitled Bob Gurr: Living by Design is set to premiere on Saturday, April 26th at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California– just a couple miles from Walt Disney Imagineering’s headquarters. Gurr famously designed most (if not all) of the ride vehicles for Disneyland’s oldest attractions, including Autopia, the Disneyland Monorail, the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Submarine Voyage, and The Haunted Mansion.
- Tickets for the premiere range from $46.99 to $168.99 and are available now. Bob Gurr himself is promised to appear in person for a Q&A after the show.
- The event is expected to run for 2 hours and 40 minutes, which includes the 1 hour and 48 minute runtime of the film (directed by Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown filmmaker Frank H. Woodward), a ten-minute intermission, and the (apparently 40-minute) Q&A session.
What they’re saying:
- Official Synopsis: “Presented by Just For Fun Productions and the Alex Theatre, this all-new documentary film celebrates the legacy of Disney Legend Bob Gurr, who was part of the original team that built Disneyland alongside Walt Disney. This independent documentary gives audiences a rare glimpse into the inspirations and philosophies that continue to drive Gurr throughout his life. From the design of the Autopia cars, Monorail, and “Doombuggies" to his continued passion for innovation, the film offers an intimate portrait of a visionary whose creations have shaped theme park history and himself."
