Lucy Halliday Joins “The Testaments,” Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” Sequel Series
Set to be one of the series’ leads, Halliday will portray Daisy, a young Canadian teen.
Another lead has been added to the cast of The Testaments, Hulu’s upcoming sequel series to The Handmaid’s Tale.
What’s Happening:
- Deadline reports that young actress Lucy Halliday has been tapped as a lead opposite Chase Infiniti and Ann Dowd in The Testaments.
- Halliday (Blue Jean) will play Daisy, a young Canadian teen whose life is turned upside down when she learns of her connection to the Republic of Gilead.
- The Testaments takes place in the dystopian theocracy of Gilead more than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale. The story follows the lives of three women, Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd), Agnes (Chase Infiniti) and Daisy, whose fates become intertwined as they uncover the secrets of Gilead and the resistance against its regime.
- As with The Handmaid’s Tale, The Testaments is based on a novel by Margaret Atwood, and is also created by Bruce Miller.
- Dowd has been a series regular on The Handmaid’s Tale for its entire run, playing the sadistic Aunt Lydia Clements.
- These updates come as The Handmaid’s Tale gets closer to its highly-anticipated sixth and final season, which is set to premiere on April 8th with three episodes on Hulu, with new episodes weekly until the series finale on May 27th.
