“Mid-Century Modern” Co-Creator Reveals How the Series Will Deal with Linda Lavin’s Passing
The actress, who portrays Sybil Schneiderman in the new Hulu comedy series, sadly passed away last month.
The upcoming Hulu comedy series, Mid-Century Modern, hit an unexpected roadbump in development when one of the show’s stars, Linda Lavin, passed away last month. Now, the show’s co-creator Max Mutchnick has revealed how the series will deal with Lavin’s passing.
What’s Happening:
- First announced in the summer, Mid-Century Modern began filming with Lavin as Sybil Schneiderman.
- Sadly, Lavin passed away at the age of 87 towards the end of December, having only filmed seven out of the series’ ten episodes.
- The show’s co-creator Max Mutchnick revealed on Instagram that the show will deal with Lavin’s death head-on through an episode titled “Here’s to you Mrs Schneiderman."
- In that post, Mutchnick shared some images of the rest of the show’s cast, including Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer and Nathan Lee Graham, likely filming a funeral scene.
- Mid-Century Modern centers on “three best friends — gay gentlemen of a certain age – who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one lives with his mother," per the official logline.
- As a chosen family, they prove that no matter how hard things get, there’s always someone around to remind you it would be better if you got your neck done.
- The multi-cam comedy, which is from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, is executive produced by Ryan Murphy.
- Mutchnick and Kohan wrote the pilot, and James Burrows serves as director.
