First Episode of Hulu’s “Paradise” to Get Network Premiere on ABC and FX
This bold move for a new Disney series showcases the company’s faith in the project from “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman.
The upcoming Hulu series Paradise, starring Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden, is set to receive a broadcast premiere for its first episode.
What’s Happening:
- Variety reports that the latest series from This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, Paradise, will receive a linear launch on ABC and FX.
- Following the series’ January 28th premiere on Hulu, the first episode only will be broadcast on ABC the following day, January 29th at 10:00 p.m.
- That will be followed on February 1st by an airing on FX, also at 10:00 p.m.
- From there, the eight-episode first season of Paradise will continue to roll out its new episodes weekly on Hulu.
- This marks a change in strategy for Disney, who have not before offered up the first episode of a new streaming series at this scale at launch.
- Variety notes that the move is a gamble, but also displays the company’s faith in the project and “its desire to flex its ability to utilize its streaming services, broadcast network and cable channels in unison to get as many eyeballs on a splashy series as possible."
- Paradise takes place in a peaceful community home to many of the world's elite. However, this calm is shattered by a startling murder, leading to a high-stakes investigation.
- Alongside Brown and Marsden, the series also stars Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin and Percy Daggs IV.
