ABC News’ “Superstar” Series Continues September 1st with Profile on Comedian Richard Pryor
ABC News has announced the next edition of Superstar will focus on comedian Richard Pryor. The primetime special airs Wednesday, September 1st.

What’s Happening:
- ABC News’ next edition of the primetime series Superstar will present a profile of legendary comedian Richard Pryor.
- Tapping into material from the ABC News archives, Superstar: Richard Pryor will highlight his groundbreaking work in comedy as well as diving into his upbringing in a brothel, how he made his way into the world of show business, and how how broke barriers with his comedy that depicted the realities of Black America.
- Additionally the special will explore Pryor’s issues with drugs, a near-death experience, his multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and his lasting legacy following his death.
- Superstar: Richard Pryor is told through interviews with family, friends and those closest to him along with archival footage of Pryor’s interview with Barbara Walters.
- The special episode will air Wednesday, September 1st (10:00-11:00 pm EDT), on ABC and can also be viewed the next day on demand and on Hulu.
