Doctor Doom Teams with the Avengers, Spider-Man and More in “One World Under Doom” #5
To the Victor go the unlikely teammates.
An upcoming issue of One World Under Doom will find an unlikely team up taking place, as Doctor Doom joins forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
What’s Happening:
- The current One World Under Doom limited series – and larger crossover event – has found Doctor Doom becoming Emperor of the world, with most of Marvel’s superheroes working to remove him from that position, even as much of the public embraces his leadership.
- That being the case, it’s a surprising scenario when heroes like the Avengers, Spider-Man and more need to team up with Doom in June’s One World Under Doom #5. Doom’s ascension to Emperor began when he became Earth’s new Sorcerer Supreme, so perhaps it’s only fitting that a Doctor Strange villain is behind the Doom/Avengers team-up.
- Per Marvel’s press release, “Dormammu has come for Doom – and Doom has SURVIVED. Broken, depleted, but having bought the time he needed, Doom ensured victory. Now, Earth’s heroes face a choice: They can allow Earth to fall to Dormammu – or they can align with Doom and fight for Earth beside him. Doom is at his highest – with Earth’s heroes behind him, nothing can stop him now. Nothing that is, save for an unexpected return of an old foe…"
- Hitting comic book stores on June 11, One World Under Doom #5 is written by Ryan North with art by R.B. Silva. The cover, by Ben Harvey, looks to be an homage to the cover art for 1984’s classic Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #1, and then Secret Wars #6, which featured similarly posed groups of superheroes and supervillains, with Doom leading the latter.
