Empire Magazine Reveals Two “Thunderbolts*” Covers

The new issue of Empire features both a photo cover and an illustrated version for subscribers.

We’re just a couple of months away from the debut of Thunderbolts*, and the film’s promo campaign is now kicking into gear with the debut of two new exclusive covers from Empire Magazine.

What’s Happening:

  • Empire Magazine has revealed their two exclusive covers for Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, with the upcoming issue featuring a big feature story about the new MCU film.
  • The main newsstand cover has a photo of the main cast, with the story inside including a set visit and interviews with director Jake Schreier and cast members, including Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, David Harbour and Lewis Pullman.

  • Empire previews that in the story, “We get to grips with an unexpected new tone for the MCU, meet the team of underdog misfits in the flesh, and wrestle with the true meaning of that pesky asterisk. All that, and it’s packed with never-before-seen images from a very different kind of Marvel movie."
  • Also revealed was the subscriber cover for the new issue of Empire, illustrated by Mark Brooks, which is a fun homage to classic Marvel comic book cover corner boxes, featuring the main characters of the title.

  • The next issue of Empire, featuring the Thunderbolts* cover story, will be released on March 13.
  • In Thunderbolts*, Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker. After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and unite as something much more before it’s too late?
  • Thunderbolts* premieres in theaters on May 2nd, 2025.
